Jennifer's Story

As someone who was once homeless, I understand that not everyone that is homeless is on drugs, lazy or a criminal. Most times, if that person is given a hand-up, they can and will pull themselves out of the darkness. I got my first job in optics over 13 years ago. It wasn't always easy and there were many times I had to work 2 jobs to insure that I kept a roof over my head and food on the table.

Whether I have had a little or abundance, I have been driven to give back. I participated with local and national organizations to help others. The only thing that disappointed me was that I had to wait on someone else's schedule to be able to do my best work. I wanted to find a way to help all year long.

I have always been creative. I love to draw and construct unique pieces into something someone would love. My husband has always been the one to benefit from this until one day he came home and asked "Can you make this"? It was the prototype of my first bracelet. I went to work. We knew as soon as we saw the finished "Unity" Bracelet we had a winner and with my heart already immersed in doing work for others, it was a natural fit. My bracelets are hand made with the care and concern I put into making eyeglasses and each one is just as individual. Just as individual as the path one takes from receiving a "hand up" to excelling and reaching back.
